Challenge yourself!

I've been working on a few new programs this year and I'm ready to roll with my Quarterly Challenge Block!

I can't tell you how many piles of block of the month, or mini quilt of the month, packages I have stacked up to do "some day".  It's ridiculous.  This program is designed to encourage completion by rewarding participants!

As you probably know, I wrote the infamous Sewtogether Bag tutorial to compliment the amazing pattern written by Michelle @SewDemented.  Since the tutorial was listed, the tutorial has been accessed 281,601 times to help thousands of you complete your Sewtogether bag!

This crazy success of the step by step tutorial made me realize how often we are intimidated by projects or patterns and just need help breaking it down into bite size pieces.

The Quarterly CHALLENGE BLOCK will enable all sewists, from beginner to expert, to follow step by step as they learn to create beautiful quilts using our timeless patterns.

Purchase options:

#1  E-Pattern and Tutorial Only - You will receive in your email a pattern with a full step by step tutorial.  Each pattern will contain instructions for our challenge block in various sizes, as well as a mini quilt pattern using the block.  Several layout options will be included to show the versatility of the block.  Make the block or mini quilt from your stash and post on social media with #s4mschallengeblock to participate in monthly giveaways!

#2  Kit, Printed Pattern, and link to step by step tutorial - You will be mailed a printed pattern with fabric to make the mini quilt using the challenge block.  If you prefer, you may use the fabric to make a large block and save these blocks for a sampler quilt when you have 12.  Post your completed block or mini quilt on social media with #s4mschallengeblock to participate in monthly giveaways!

Each month, random drawings will be held and social media posts with #s4mschallengeblock will be eligible to win freebies and discounts!

Here is a sneak peak of the October challenge....

Kits are limited to 50 subscribers, so join today!

Auction and Destash for my little buddy!

As some of you know, my not so little buddy, Riley is struggling with some post concussion migraines and other symptoms that made it necessary for us to travel to Pennsylvania to see a Sports Medicine Specialist.  With his followup visit approaching, I'm holding an Auction/Destash to help cover the travel expenses associated with these visits.

I'll be auctioning rare, out of print, and hard to find items and posting other fun fabrics from my stash on Instagram this Saturday afternoon for purchase.  I will also be posting several quilts from my shop that were used as displays for prices that you couldn't make it for.

To spread the word, I'm doing a fun giveaway!  Repost any of my Auction/Destash posts this week with the hashtag #auction4riley  On Saturday, January 23rd at 5PM Mountain time, I will use a random number generator to select a winner to receive this rare Heather Ross FQ bundle from the Lightning Bugs Collection.

These are super soft cotton poplin brand new, unwashed.  They are treasures and so hard to find!

This is how it works:

Auction - During the next few days, I will post auction items with opening bids.  If you would like to bid, post a comment with your paypal email and bid amount.  Bidding will end Saturday morning at 10AM Mountain Time.

Destash - Destash will be held at the Instagram @sew4mysanitydestash on Saturday, January 23rd at 2PM Mountain Time.  First person to respond with paypal email, wins the item.  Shipping will be combined with any other bids you made and actual USPS rates will be applied to your invoice.  Invoices will go out on Monday, January 25 by 5PM and packages will be shipped within 24 hours of payment.

Feel free to post a backup paypal email as sometimes the original sale falls through.

Thank you so much for helping me spread the word!

New Adventures

I have always believed that things happen for a reason. Closing The Quilt Barn last spring was one of those difficult, bittersweet decisions.  Running a retail establishment with a young family is an insane amount of work.  It takes a tole on your health and your family.

Closing a store, however, is also an INSANE amount of work!  LOL!  I'm happy to share that I've settled into my quilting studio and have opened a little ETSY shop.

What next?  I hope to have time to write up some patterns that have been loitering in my noggin for quite sometime, share some fun sew-a-longs and tutorials on my new blog (here), and have more time to spend with my family and of course...sneak in a little more selfish sewing!

My website has a little bit of everything.  It's a work in progress.  It will grow and evolve over time into my happy place.  One of my favorite inspirational quotes...
